Joop Kropff was a Dutch painter who captured scenes
in Leiden, such as this painting of the Mederlandse Grofsmederij iron forge founded in 1836 and the Meelfabriek flour factory, which was one the largest in the Netherlands after World War II. He also painted city and beach scenes, free compositions, and still lifes such as "Twee gerookte bokkingen," meaning "Two smoked herrings."
